In the face of the economic challenges faced by Ndi Amaebu Ebenator as a result of the lockdown order by the state government, a renowned United States of America (USA) trained Professor of Pharmacy and high profile member of All Progressives Congress (APC) Imo State cum grassroot based Philanthropist known across Nigeria and the Diaspora, Hon Chief (Dr) Celestine Izunobi (Omereoha Orsu) in his usual selfless service to mankind has doled out millions of naira worth of food stuffs to cushion the negative effect of the raging global calamity known as Covid-19 pandemic to the people of the community.
Latest in the series of donations to the community is the distribution of food items through his Foundation, Dr Celestine Izunobi Foundation (DCIF). The distribution exercise took place at his palatial home in the community.
Items distributed during the exercise include; bags of rice, giant live cows, carton of tomatoes, tubers of yams and cartons of noodles. Each of the ten villages were given their own share of the items. Youths from the villages were equally given financial relief which they shared in their various villages in addition to the food items.
What made the event unique was the presence of Amaebu-Ebenator Town Union Executives (both men, youth and women wings) who showered praises on the Omereoha Orsu along with prayers and songs of worship to God Almighty for coming to their aid at this critical time of their lives.
Women and men who spoke to this reporter recalled how Chief Omereoha Orsu’s numerous interventionist gestures to the community which include the building of a classroom school block at the community’s Technical School, the roofing of the Community’s Town Hall, numerous Scholarship Awards to the indigenous students, empowerment programmes for the youths, donation of quality pieces of wrappers to all the Amaebu-Ebenator women and other wonderful gestures have saved the day for many at the grassroots.
Addressing the groups at each point, Hon. Dr. Celestine Izunobi appreciated their patience and compliance to the sit at home directive by the state government and urged them not to lay down their guards but to continue with the laid-down directives of regular hand washing, maintaining social distance, using hand sanitizers and above all staying at home only to come out when it becomes absolutely necessary.
The Pharmacist and Chairman of Dr. Celestine Izunobi Foundation (DCIF) thanked the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma for being proactive. He attributed the least or no presence of Covid-19 cases in Imo State today largely to the efforts of the government.
He also commended the state government for kicking-off the palliative measures by giving food items to the elderly and to the youths, as he said that the consignment will go a long way in alleviating the plight of the people.
The Orsu born renowned Orators, Dr. Livingstone Ikebuasi (Ezeikorobia Ebenator) and Hon Ichie Felix Obodoechi (Enyioha Orsu), were full of praises for Hon Dr. Celestine Izunobi and the management of his Foundation, saying that they have never seen such generosity and magnanimity in the community, even as they acknowledged his antecedents in unparalled philanthropy.
In his speech, the Vice President General of Amaebu Ebenator on behalf of the Town Union in the community, the Woman Leader of the community and the entire Ndi Amaebu Ebenator prayed for more successes and long life upon Hon Dr. Celestine Izunobi (Omereoha Orsu) and his family.
Other beneficiaries who spoke on behalf of the community, expressed profound gratitude to the donor and prayed God to bless him abundantly.
