– As IMC boss inaugurates Ward Information Officers
The Interim Management Committee (IMC) Chairman of the Isiala Mbano local government area of Imo State, Hon. Chika Okoroike, on Monday at the council headquarters in Umuelenmai inaugurated twelve (12) Covid-19 Ward Information Officers.
Addressing members of the Committee during their inauguration, the Chairman charged the information officers to liaise with their various community heads, opinion leaders, bar owners, and visiting sensitive places in their wards to gather information on the coronavirus pandemic.
Hon. Okoroike encouraged them to be vigilant and apply all the prescribed Covid-19 safety measures in the process of carrying out their assignments.
The Information Officers were further charged with mounting surveillance in various LGAs to discover infected persons, using intelligence-gathering method to disclose returnees from abroad or endemic states such as Lagos, Oyo, Nasarawa, Niger, Kano, the Federal Capital Territory, etc.
He also urged them to also liaise with traditional rulers, President Generals of communities, village heads, and IMC members at the various wards to pick sensitive information from hospitals, patent medicine shops, restaurants, and bars.
The IMC Chairman urged the officers to be proactive and dedicated to duty, adding that they were chosen as the best for the task from their different wards. While assuring the information officers of their security, he advised them to report directly to him any emergencies that may arise in their localities.
Hon. Okoroike who said his administration was leaving no stone unturned in containing the spread of the dreaded disease, commended the state government for its efforts so far in that regard.
Members of the committee include Engr. Ogoke Uzoma – Ibeme Ward, Anu Oliver – Osuama/Anara Ward, Ukeachu Chima Charles – Osuowerre 1 Ward, Prince Nnamdi Onuoha – Osuowerre 2 Ward, Nze Franklin Asuzor – Osuachara Ward, Ezirim Chigozie – Ugiri/Oka Ward.
Others are Obilor Anthony – Obollo Ward, Njoku Raymond Ikenna – Ogbor Ward, Nwachukwu Henry – Umuozu Ward, Njoku Chijioke – Amauzari Ward, Oforha Nnaemeka – Umunkwo Ward and Ohaji Kelechi – Amaraku Ward.
