A group, Alliance for Okigwe Mandate (ALOMA) has taken former member representing Ehime Mbano State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon Lawman Duruji to the cleaners over what it described as unwarranted outbursts against the Speaker, Rt. Hon. (Dr) Collins Chiji.
Hon Duruji had accused the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Chiji Collins of masterminding his removal at the Appeal Court and as well threatened to go to court if the certificates of the Speaker were not probed.
Addressing Journalists in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, leader of the group, Dr. Ekene Achonu expressed bitterness on the conduct of the former lawmaker, describing him as a drowned man.
According to him, Hon Duruji had earlier accused former Governor Rochas Okorocha and his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu of masterminding his removal from office, adding that when he saw that his allegation had no basis, he pointed at Governor Hope Uzodinma for his abrupt exit.
He continued that when he was sure that Governor Uzodinma had no hand in his removal; he accused former Governor Emeka Ihedioha, and immediate past Deputy Speaker, Okey Onyekanma while battling with inferiority complex.
He said, “initially, Lawman Duruji accused Senator Rochas Okorocha, Uche Nwosu, Hope Uzodinma, Emeka Ihedioha and the immediate past Deputy Speaker, Okey Onyekanma of masterminding his removal. Today, the same man who said the above persons removed him is pointing accusing fingers at the Speaker, Rt Hon Collins Chiji of working for his exit. The question now is, how many Imo big shots would come together to remove an ordinary Lawman Duruji from office?”.
Dr. Achonu; maintained that if truly a non Ehime Mbano person could succeed in removing Lawman Duruji from office, it appears that he lacked the popular spread and touch in his constituency hence, was not relevant to his people.
On his threat to go to court to challenge the genuineness of the Speaker’s certificates, Dr. Achonu expressed regret that the former lawmaker upon all his exposures in life could still be bereft of knowledge.
He said, “at the embryonic stage of this falsehood, the Speaker made available $5, 000 bounty for anyone that could prove that he forged his certificates, but after six months of the stake, no one has come out to prove him wrong thereby making the allegation false. Was Duruji not in town when the Speaker made the offer?”.
“For the records, NYSC had since proved that the Speaker’s certificate is authentic and came from them, the University he graduated from in Italy ascertained his documents, a lecturer at Imo state University and the current Commissioner for Education, Prof Ikegwuruka can say more about Collins Chiji. If these authorities and scholars could certify the Speaker’s certificates, who is Lawman Duruji, a onetime taxi driver to fault it?”, he submitted.
He therefore appealed to the public not to take the former Lawmaker, Duruji serious, assuring that his role in the looting of over N3 billion IMSUBEB project funds, first, second and third inland bridges in Owerri among others would soon be made available to the public.
