Following outcries by original allotees of the Orji Town Layout over what they described as an orchestrated plot to deprive them of their legitimately acquired plots of land, the Imo State government had directed officials of the Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA) to address the issue.
Our source who visited the plots witnessed the arrival of the OCDA officials and how they warned the developers against continuing with the project. However, moments after OCDA left, it was discovered that the developers went back to site, this time with a more ferocious speed aimed at completing development and appropriating other peoples land.
The issue has become source of worry and could lead to breakdown of law and order if not immediately addressed.
This is because the developers have therefore dared the government of Imo State to do their worst. They boasted also to have perfected all documentations to show proof of legitimate acquisition and evidence of payments of the necessary development fees and others. It is not certain though if the developers are agents or proxies of the actors of the last administration.
Efforts to reach the new General Manager of OCDA on why the security operatives were not used to stop work at the site since that is the proper and appropriate channel of action proved abortive as press time. He was reported to have gone into a crucial meeting.
