– Returns establishments to State
The Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma has cancelled the highly controversial concessioning of Imo Transport Company Limited, ITC. He has also sacked Chairman of Imo State Universal Basic Education Board (IMSUBEB), Prof. Obioma Iheduru and his counterpart in the State Board of Internal Revenue, Chief Onwunali, who made false claims of being retained or reinstated after the Governor had earlier announced the dissolution of all boards and parastatals.
The immediate past governor of Imo State, Rt. Hon Emeka Ihedioha had allegedly concessioned ITC to Transport Hub Limited of which sources around the government house alleged that Ihedioha’s brother was actually the chief beneficiary of the concessioning arrangement but had used an Ideato born transport mogul (namewithheld)to secure the deal as a proxy.
According to a source at ITC, Adapalm, the governor had immediately after his emergence directed that senior civil servants of these establishments should take over the affairs of the establishment. He also hinted that Governor Uzodinma had held series of meeting with the heads of these establishments to discuss how to improve the IGR of the state.
He disclosed that already, they have gotten their appointment letters and are working assiduously to fast track an improved revenue drive for the state since both ITC and Adapalm are the cash cows for Imo State hence every governor wants to direct their revenue to private pockets.
One of the Adalpalm staff who spoke to this reporter on condition of anonymity said, “we are happy that the state’s establishments have been returned to the Ministry. We all know that what make ministries are these establishments. If you “take away these establishments, what then is left?”, the source queried.
He thanked senator Uzodinma for achieving this feat, saying that the past administrations rendered civil service redundant while retrenching many workers as a result of the concessioning of the establishments which include; ITC, Concord, Adapalm, IBC, others.
What is still curious is how Onwunali deceived their workers to remain in office after the removal of Governor Emeka Ihedioha.
Meanwhile,a top civil servant who doesnt want his name in print berated governor Uzodinma for sacking the duo,saying that the positions are statutory.
