The immediate past Governor of Imo State, now senator representing Imo West in the National Assembly, Senator Rochas Anayo Okorocha, has been reported as evading service of summon, as a Defendant in a land suit instituted by his kinsmen in a Customary Court sitting at Amanator, Ideato South over the customary land of the people.
When the matter came up on Monday, October 29, it was discovered that the defendant, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has continuously been absent to the surprise of the court inspite of summon to him through a Bailiff to the Clerk of the National Assembly.
In the originating summons, the Claimants represented by their Counsel, Barr. Mbakwe Obi, had deposed that the Defendant, Senator Rochas Okorocha, had sometime in the past, demolished the Omuma Ebenmano Social Club, where he built his school “Rochas Foundation College”, Obiohia Ogboko, without bargaining, purchasing or offering an alternative site to the member.
Speaking further, the plaintiff counsel noted that “the Defendant has refused to appear in court for hearing and that the honourable court should deem it fit to bring the Defendant to court or enter judgment in favour of the plaintiff.
One of the members of the social Club, HRH Eze Festus D Nwosu, Eze-Elect told newsmen that, “it is surprising and unbelievable that the immediate past governor could demolish social club house without any compensation and built his school “Rochas Foundation College”, Obohia Ogboko.
He narrated how the Defendant took over their property, which they now want to recover or paid compensation for the property.
However, the court adjourned the matter to December 11, for hearing, hopeful that the Defendant may enter appearance on that date.
