– Ring leader, sponsors on the run
Men of the Imo State Police Command Owerri, have successfully arrested a suspect simply identified as tootpick, said to have made confessional statement owning up to the killing of Bruno Uchechukwu, who until his death was Personal Assistant to Hon. Jasper Ndubuaku.
Bruno was shot at the ever busy Cherubim Junction by Wetheral junction, Ikenegbu, Owerri. The incident took place on Sunday night, barely a day after the Election Petitions Tribunal judgment. It was suspected that his assailants had trailed him from where he and others celebrated Ihedioha’s victory party.
According to previous reports, Bruno Uchechukwu, while working with the Chairman of Imo Assets Recovery Committee, Chief Jasper Ndubuaku, had a scuffle with former government appointees.
It was gather that late Bruno Uchechukwu had escaped lynching previously in the hands of the same suspects, when his boss, Jasper Ndubuaku, had an ugly encounter with a top former Imo State government official’s henchmen(Namewitheld).
It was also learnt that late Bruno Uchechukwu had quickly raised alarm and reached the security agencies in the state including the Obinze Soldiers, who raced down to the scene of the incident and rescued Jasper Ndubuaku, who was kicked into the drainage, from the jaws of death.
Confirming the arrest of the assassin, whose name he gave as “Tooth Pick”, Chief Jasper Ndubuaku, who doubles as SA to the Governor on Security Matters, said the suspect, who admitted carrying out the dastardly act of murder, may have involved in the assassination without knowing the motive behind it and was simply after his price, since the actual ring leader, who hired him is still on the run.
He however commended the police who he once lashed at for non-committal to the execution of his sensitive job of movable stolen assets recovery and security and safety of his boys, for tracking down “Tooth pick” and charged them never to relent until the kingpin and ring leader is caught, to expose the sponsors.
Imolites are very skeptical in appreciating the efforts of the police in arresting the hired assassin, simply because, those who murdered Theodore Agwuatu, Uche Ogbu, and Ugonna Emereonye of the Ohakim 10000 job beneficiaries, were equally arrested and admitted to the crime, yet there is no record that any of them was prosecuted and condemned to death. Moreso, the kidnappers of the Chairman of PDP in Owerri West LGA, are yet to be apprehended by Imo police.
Effort to reach the Imo State Police Publice Relation officer, Mr Ikeokwu proved abortive as his phone line was not reachable.
