The Deputy Governor of Imo State, Hon. Engr. Gerald Irona, on Tuesday, October 8, 2019, assured Imo youths of government’s resolve to create job and ensure they are integral part of the present administration.
Speaking to select youths drawn from National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), National Association of Imo State Students (NAISS), Ihedioha Youth Organization, Students Union Governments (SUGs) of all the tertiary institutions in Imo and the Imo State Youth Parliament, during a courtesy visit in his office, Hon Irona called on Imo youths to remain focused and optimistic, assuring that the present administration will deliver on its promises to the people.
Earlier, the Special Adviser (SA) to the Governor on Youth Affairs, Hon. Rex Okoro, had intimated the Deputy Governor of their proposed youth Summit which is slated for a later date.
Hon Okoro highlighted on the essence of the summit, noting that the immediate last administration neglected the youths, except for very few who were willing to play along in the destruction of Imo State. He boasted that the present administration in less than one year, has been able to empower the youths through well thought out programs like the Agricultural training programs.
Aside Hon Rex Okoro, others who spoke during the visit expressed satisfaction with the way and manner the present administration has piloted the affairs of the state.
Responding to their proposed summit, the deputy governor pledged to support the youths and urged them to reach out to other youth groups irrespective of political affiliation, stating that Ihedioha’s government is not sectional but carries everyone along.
