The Transition Committee Chairman of Orsu LGA Imo State, Hon. Herbet Smart Ubah, has described Orsu clan as a group of people who reciprocate every kind gesture meted out at them abundantly. He made this statement while addressing the people at Orsu local Government Council headquarters, on October 1, 2019, while celebrating the 59th year of Nigeria’s independence. He also enjoined the people of Orsu to support Governor Emeka Ihedioha, in his rebuild Imo project as a way of reciprocating the Governor’s love for the people.

Speaking futher, Hon. Ubah stated that, 1st October every year is an opportunity for us to reflect and thank God for his endless blessings and a time to remember sacrifice made by our founding fathers and great leaders past, the sacrifices made by our soldiers, distinguished public servants, traditional rulers, our workers and sacrifices on which Nigeria has been built over the 59 years since independence in 1960, and to rededicate ourselves to attaining the goals which we have set for ourselves, as a united prosperous and purposeful nation in the face of 21 century opportunity and challenges.
Continuing, Hon. Ubah encouraged Orsu people to support immensely the government of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, and commended the people for turning out in mass to celebrate the Nigeria 59 years of independence. “Let everyone come together in the same vein to help and support his government so that by the end of his tenure, he would have changed our lives and help us alleviate poverty and suffering in Imo state”.
He pleaded with those who are still infuriated over the outcome of the 2019 general elections to put their anger behind them and let this Nigeria’s 59th years independence day celebration bring everyone together as “one Orsu”, to support the government of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, to make our place better. He added that he is flexible and ever ready to welcome any advice and contribution to better Orsu LGA, “because if our LGA is better, it is for all of us”.
He reminded the people of Orsu that the Governor, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, has done marvelously for them by appointing some of their sons and daughters in some strategic positions in his government. They include Imo State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Ben Ekwueme, SA to Governor on Inter-Party, Hon. Dr. Geff Ojinaka, Chief Gilbert Okorie; SSA Electoral Matters, Hon. Emmanuel Dike; SA to Governor on Protocols, Eziada Sade Balogun; Vice Chairman on Adaplam, Ohaji, Lt. Col. Obinna; SSA to Governor on Security Monitoring, Hon. Timothy Obodozie; General Manager, Rubber Plantation.
The independence day celebration in Orsu local government area featured as highlights, the crowning of the Mr and Miss Orsu, the march past by all the public primary and secondary schools in the area, as well as all the private primary and secondary schools.
