Imo State Governor, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha CON has embarked on the tour of projects initiated by his administration across the 27 local govt areas of the state.
The Council areas visited were Obowo, Ihitte Uboma, Ehime Mbano, Ahiazu Mbaise, Aboh Mbaise, Ezinihite Mbaise, and Ngor Okpala .
The Governor painstakingly inspected the secretariats and stadia initiated by the Local Government administration which are at different levels of construction.
Speaking to newsmen after the inspection of the projects, Governor Ihedioha expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done in most of the projects.
The Governor who frowned at the poor quality of job being done by the contractors handling the administrative building and the stadium/sports complex at Obowo and Ezinihitte LGAs respectively, ordered their disengagement with immediate effect for not adhering strictly to the specifications contained in their contract documents.
The Governor charged the contractors to ensure that the projects were completed in due time and according to specifications noting that his administration will not accept sub standard jobs as seen in the recent past, warning that the state will take deliberate and decisive actions against any contractor who fails to abide by the terms and conditions of the contracts,especially as it concerns the drawing and engineering designs.
“It is hoped that the secretariats when completed will guarantee a conducive working environment for the Local Government staff which expectedly will translate to greater productivity, while the stadia will engage the youths gainfully, harvest the huge talents reserve and boost sporting activities in the state” he said.
The Governor was accompanied to the visit by the Special Advisers on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mayor Eze; Project Monitoring, Uche Moneke, Political Affairs, Jones Onyereri; among others.
On hand to receive the Governor and his entourage, were Chairmen and members of the Local Government, Interim Management Committee; Traditional Rulers and other stakeholders.
