The Executive Governor of Imo State, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, has once more been lauded and applauded for acting and living to his words by the Chairman of the Heartland Football Club of Owerri, Chief Barr. Charles Ezekwem, who expressed immense gratitude to the Governor for providing a brand new Bus as an Independence Day gift to the Naze millionaires as part of the activities marking the 59th independence celebration, held at the Cenotaph (Heroes Square), New Owerri.

Chief Ezekwem, whose commendations for the Governor knew no bounds, declared the gift as “a perfect independence gift”, coming to the beneficiaries, at a time when they needed it most which is the beginning of a new football season, stating that Chief Ihedioha has once again matched words with action as a leader, whose word is his bond.

While handing over the keys of the vehicles to Chief Ezekwem, Governor Ihedioha commended the vigour and passion with which Barr. Ezekwem’s board has carried out her activities, promising that his government is determined to bring about tangible realities, as well as a paradigm shift in the administration of the state.

His Excellency recalled with nostalgia how Heartland Football Club was saved from capitulating to the depth of relegation the moment he came into office and the deliberate steps that Chief Ezekwem and his men took to reform the club with the prompt acquisition of a sound tactician, Fidelis Ikechukwu, with some marquee signing for the new season.

In his response, the Board Chairman, Barr Charles Ezekwem, promised to reciprocate the confidence reposed in him by the Governor, by working hard with the team to restore the glorious days of the club with a continental ticket as a commensurate gift to “our sports loving Governor”.

Those present during the handover ceremony of the new vehicle were some members of the Board, who include Henry Nwosu (MON); Coach David Adiele; Emeka Asor (Secretary to the Board); Godson Onyemaobi, Levi Njoku, Chief Allwell Nwakali and the General Manager, Chief Chukwudi Ifeanyi, as well as the Chairman of the States Sports Council, Chief Fan Ndubuaku.

Also at the venue were the club’s management team and the hilarious supporters club, who were in high spirit over the new development in the area of sports, particularly in football. According to the Director of Media and Communications, Mr Solomon Onu, the Nigeria football league is billed to commence on the 20th of October, 2019.
