One of the funders and initiators of Ex-Governor Rochas Okorocha, governorship project in 2011 and the Secretary of Rescue Mission Board of Trustees at the time, Chief Alaribe was chairman of the Board, Engr. Polycarp Ibezim, has expressed satisfaction over the way and manner the present administration of Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha (CON, KSC) runs local government system in the state.
Ibezim also commended Governor Emeka Ihedioha, for his commitment towards ensuring that the local government administration in the state becomes viable and instrument for grassroots development, youth and women empowerment.
According to Ibezim, the choice of Hon. Chief Mayor Eze Chukwudi, as the Special Adviser (SA) to the governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs remains a masterstroke considering the wealth of experience of the former Council boss and representative of Orsu,Orlu and Oru East constituency in the House of Representatives.
He recalled how the Rescue Mission Board of Trustees under their leadership had articulated beautiful proposals for Ex-Governor Rochas Okorocha in 2012 on how best to run the Local Government system without knowing that the then governor had already made up his mind to mis-appropriate the funds accruable to the third tier of government due to his kleptomaniac attributes.
“I feel excited that the Local Government system is working again in Imo. We all know how moribund the council areas were under Okorocha and the reforms Governor Ihedioha, seeks to engender through our brother, Mayor Eze, have so far brought to us”, Ibezim stated.
He also commended the government for abolishing the anti-Igbo Community Government Council (CGC) in Imo, stating that the creation CGC almost destroyed the root of what we, the Igbos were known for. He recalled how the Town Unions were veritable instrument for development, a factor which the CGC didn’t fit in at all.
