The newly elected Chairman of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Imo State chapter, Prince (Dr) Henry Okafor, has expressed readiness of his led State Working Committee (SWC) to reposition the party in the State in order to make it stronger and ensure that Imo is better.
The Chairman made this disclosure on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at the party Secretariat along Egbu road Owerri, in a press conference organized by the party to intimate the public on the happenings in the party and its future plans.
On the just concluded gubernatorial and state house of Assembly election in the state, the Chairman maintained that APGA won the governorship election in the state and that the party is currently in court to seek redress, with a bid “to recover it’s stolen mandate”.
The former ISOPADEC boss stated that APGA will be engaging in the re-orientation of the youths in the state for attitudinal change especially for those of them who are used negatively by desperate politicians in the state in order to win elections at all cost.
Speaking on the new administration in the state, Dr. Henry Okafor hinted that his party will only engage in constructive criticisms of the PDP government to ensure good governance in the state as long as they last in government.
He then applauded the party for organizing what he called the most credible and transparent congresses starting from the ward level , LGA through the state, which brought him and other members of the State Executive Committee (Exco) to office.
He used the occasion to debunk rumours making rounds about a certain factional leadership in APGA, stressing that the party is intact under the leadership of Chief Victor Oye’s National Working Committee (NWC), after its emergence at the National Convention held in Awka Anambara State.
On the issue of its members who felt aggrieved after the party primary election, the state chairman reiterated that he and his State Working committee members have commenced the process of reconciling its aggrieved and disgruntled party members, in order to build a stronger and better party in the state.
Present at the briefing were the Deputy Chairman of APGA in the state, Chief Nicolas Isiuba, Pastor Alphonsus Eberendu, who is the State Secretary, Mrs Ijeoma Obieze as the Woman Leader, Barr. Emma Nwosu, who emerged as the State Organizing Secretary,Chief Emma Iroka,Orlu zonal Chairman and other members of the State Executive Committee (SEC), including LGA Chairmen, Secretaries, Ex-Officio members and their Treasurers.
