Barely three days after the House of Assembly member for Ideato North Local Government, Hon Arthur Egwim, was nominated by the Party’s National Chairman, Udenze, the Assembly leadership has nominated, the Orsu Lawmaker who was elected on the platform of All Progressive Grand Alliance as Minority leader.

This steered up controversy as most of the ranking members argued that the position is not meant for a first termer.

They also argued that Action Alliance (AA) being in the majority of the minority parties as presently constituted should be allowed to filed in the Minority leader position.

According to our reporter who covered the sitting, the four lawmakers who, if going by the house rule are mostly favoured are; Hon Obinna Okwara-Nkwerre; Hon Athur Egwim-Ideato North, both of Action Alliance (AA).

Others are the two female lawmakers, namely; Hon Ngozi Obiefule-Isu; Hon Uju Onwudiwe-Njaba, also of AA. It is believed in different quarters that one of these women should have been considered for minority leadership position of the 9th Imo Assembly, as a way of encouraging women participation in politics and balance the dominance of men in the Assembly.
