Barely nine days to the formal swearing-in ceremony of a new government and the official handover to the new Governor-elect of Imo state, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, the 39 Joint Committee saddled with the planning and execution of the important project has raised said that it has not received any money from Governor Okorocha, to rehabilitate the Dan Anyiam Stadium Owerri, venue of the programme and to execute other auxiliary projects.
A release issued and signed by the Secretary of the Inauguration Planning and Handover Committee, Hon Nze Ray Emeana, in reaction to a publication on social media by one Johnbull Chikwe hinted, thus, “Ihedioha Inauguration Committee mishandling millions of Naira released to it by Governor Okorocha for the renovation of Dan Anyiam Stadium” denied that they have not received such money.
The release said that the committee may not be surprised that such monies may have been indeed fraudulently siphoned under the guise that the money is being released for the inauguration planning and handover committees.
The committee said that it has reported the claim to security agencies to invite the said Johnbull Chikwe, so as to provide an insight into the allegation that One Hundred and Fifty Million Naira (N150,000,000) was released to the planning committee, where, when and at which occasion.
The committee in order to put the records straight, conscious of the fact that the intention of the writer and his paid masters were to misinform Imolites, cause disaffection and distract the committee from it’s assignment, insisted that Chief Okorocha and his outgoing cabinet has not released any money to the Joint Committee of Ihedioha’s 31 members and Okorocha 21 team that have only met and adopted a common resolution on line of action.
The committee said that instead of giving effect to the mutual resolution adopted at the joint meeting, that Rochas Okorocha abandoned the resolution and had proceeded with commissioning of internet sited projects.
However, the committee said that conscious of the great importance the Imo people attached to May 29, it has proceeded to give the people a world class inauguration and swearing-in ceremony by providing a decent environment of the Dan Anyiam and Grasshopper Handball stadia.
They revealed that Imo is always agog with excitements and Owerri is currently the distinction of choice for prominent Nigerians at home and the diapora, hotels and flights are fully booked for the event as the various venues for the programmes are wearing fresh looks.
