Nze Elvis Agukwe, candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for Orlu, Orsu and Oru East Federal Constituency, has appealed to all those who were defeated in the governorship election which held in Imo State on March 9, 2019, to sheathe their swords and join hands with Governor-elect, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha, to fast track the project of rebuilding Imo state.
Agukwe made this known in a release captioned, “we know those behind the phantom 40 political parties purported to have gone to court to challenge the victory of Emeka Ihedioha. He equally refuted the claim that 40 political parties have ganged up against Ihedioha, adding that a certain political big man is behind the entire charade, purported that to mean 40 parties.
According to him, “the caption, 40 political parties at the Tribunal against Ihedioha”, is all part of the plot by the so called political big men who suddenly realized that the political war in Imo was over. All the gang ups, conspiracies and acts of wickedness will fail. The God of Imo, who made Ihedioha’s victory possible, will wrestle all enemies down. Let me once more in the spirit of Easter appeal to these litigants to in the greater interest of Imo withdraw their petitions, join hands with Emeka Ihedioha and rebuild Imo.
Since the history of our dear state Imo, 40 parties and more have not taken part in a guber election before. Though, they have the right to do so but we are in an extraordinary period. These induced petitions as not necessary. We are aware of a political big man who gathered all house of Assembly candidates that lost in his party to go to the tribunal. Of course many of them refused because there is no need.
We don’t need litigations rather we urge that all those who love IMO should join hands with the Governor Elect who promised an all inclusive government to move the state forward. Imo resources, time etc would be wasted with this barrage of tribunal cases. If truly you love this state, you can sacrifice for her. The outgoing government of Okorocha has mortgaged this state and it requires the cooperation of all to restore the glory of the state. Local government tier is in ruins, civil service is destroyed and other institutions. The Governor-elect needs no distractions to work. We all kept quite and Ohakim was distracted for 4 years.
Lets not allow that to happen again. Let us in the spirit of Easter appeal to all those aggrieved, who are with petition against Ihedioha to withdraw them for the sake of the state. This is the sacrifices we all need to make. Beating war drums, ego tripping by those who are claiming victory and so on, are not necessary now. Let us come together and support the Governor Elect. Only one person would be governor at a time. God will bless as you hearken to this call!!”,he concluded.
