Former Commissioner for Lands, survey and Urban Planning in the government of Owelle Rochas Okorocha, Nze Ogueri Enwerem, has described the Imo PDP chairman, Chief Charles Babatunde Ezekwem as “the man that saw tomorrow”.
Enwerem who is now a chieftain of PDP opined that Ezekwem is an iconic and extra ordinary political pundit whose ultimate goal was to lead the PDP back to Douglas House Owerri where he was once a Special Adviser to the then Deputy Governor of Imo State, Engr. Ebere Udeagu.
The estranged close confident and acolyte of Rochas Okorocha, who was unceremoniously booted out of office to pave the way for the ascendancy of Uche Nwosu, to the governorship of Imo State, after his father inlaws tenure, sees the Imo PDP boss as consummate party man who in most cases holds his audience spell bound with unadulterated inspirational realities, with very precise and absolute prophetic pronouncements and analyses that have come to be.
According to him,what seems to be poignant is the way he set out to achieve these daunting challenges of leading the party to victory.
According to Ukwuose,as popularly called,In all the Owerri zone LGAs, his message resonated and cut deep like a sharp knife in the consciousness of the average patriot. He unequivocally put it to them that, this was their fight to win or lose. He passionately pleaded to all and sundry to unify and deliver the winning punch. He said ” if we are able to deliver 80% of all Owerri votes to PDP, it will be a sure bet to the Douglas House”. Owerri zone responded resoundingly like never before.
When he addressed his Okigwe zone, ever mindful of the Herculean challenges of the trio of Araraume, Ohakim and the current Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Acho Ihim, unembarrassed by the flow of money and local allegiances, he maintained his cool.
He initiated a peculiar master strategy that saw to the fact that rigging and vote padding was stopped. Had any of these three major opponents succeeded in getting the kind of votes we got in Aboh, Ahiazu and Ezinihitte, Mbaise, the story would have taken a devastating dimension. Barr Ezekwem clearly insisted and implemented this strategy to save the day.
In Orlu zone, this political maverick extended his message with gratitude to the likes of our Deputy Governor-elect, Hon. Gerald Ironna, who meticulously fought his heart out to secure Oguta, Oru West and Oru East for us. The State Chairman also reached out to Hon. Jones Onyeriri, Hon. Jerry Alagbaoso and HE. Chief Achike Udenwa. In tandem with the quest for equity, they all made sure that Orlu helped to deliver the killer punch in at least four critical LGAs.
Continueing,Enwerem said,”Ezekwem’s rise to fame and stardom is not a day’s journey. His pedigree and background is one for the history books. His leadership style and versatile political wisdom are result oriented to say the least. He is endowed with a rare passion for standing always with the truth in a game that requires intrigues and rigorous dynamism. He has always won with the truth. Enwerem recalled that since 2007 when Achike Udenwa left government House Owerri, no other chairman of Imo PDP has successfully delivered a governor except Chief Charles Babatunde Ezekwem.
