The apex students’ body in Imo State, known as National Association of Imo State Students (NAISS) has dissociated itselve from a proposed state wild protest in favour of Governor Rochas Okorocha, seeking to compel INEC to issue him certificate of return.
The student body said it is not part of the protest tagged “10,000 Imo students protest for Owelle Rochas Okorocha; release of certificate of return and Uche Nwosu’s mandate”.
In a release made available to Watchdog Newspaper by the National Association of Imo State Students, NAISS stated that information has it that planning of the protest was assigned to some jobless school drop-out and those expelled from various institutions but operating under a political structure, impersonating students of Imo State.
The statement jointly signed by NAISS National President Comr. Anyaoha Tochi C., Comr. Theophilus Kingsley Chigozie National Publicity Secretary II and Rt. Hon. Comr. Dominion Emmanuel, Senate President NAISS advised all Imo State Students to stay away from the said protest which is aimed at destabilizing the peaceful coexistence of Imo State people by calling for the cancellation of the governorship election and asking INEC to release a Certificate of Return for a politician whose certificate of return was withheld.
It therefore stated that the Imo State Students are happy with the 2019 election results that produced His Excellency Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha as the winner and declared as the Imo State Governor-elect.
NAISS also urged the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure justice in other zones where elections have not been concluded.
