The United Progressive Party (UPP) candidate for Imo West senatorial district, and Publisher of Watchdog Newspaper Owerri, Comrade Precious Nwadike has said that his ambition to contest for the Orlu zone senate seat, is to address the myriads of problems confronting the people, who he said have been so humiliated and abandoned by the outgoing government of Owelle Rochas Okorocha, thereby making the zone a laughing stock before others.
Comrade Nwadike stated this while addressing old boys and girls of Ojike Memorial Secondary School, who were on a courtesy visit to his campaign office in Orlu recently, were led by Comrade Uzokwukwu Onwuaku, a senior lecturer in Plateau State Polytechnic.
According to the Umudiatu Orlu born journalist and Human Rights Activist, who had his secondary education in the same school, where he served as Senior Prefect (SP) in the year 1999, there is no need banking hope on some of these old politicians, who are bereft of leadership qualities that never added value to the wellbeing or existence of our people, during previous outings in elective positions, believing that things will get better. “Nothing will get better, if we don’t take the bull by the horn, hence, my resolve to aspire to represent you at the red chambers of the National Assembly. I am really troubled by the level of unemployment in our zone, it calls for urgent attention considering it’s attendant effects on the economy of Orlu zone”, he revealed.
He challenged members of the Association to point out any meaningful project in Orlu, apart from those that are converted to private property, but built with public fund by the present government, adding that, “I have been a youth leader in Orlu zone and Imo state, had participated in the various elections that saw the emergence of successive governments, I know how Orlu was before Okorocha came on board.
Today, we are worse off. It will only take someone with knowledge of our history and where we got it wrong, to correct the numerous problems created by this government in Orlu zone”.
Comrade Nwadike recalled how as National President of Orluzurumee Youth Assembly (OYA), he prioritized job creation which led to the employment of some youths in the area, with such little power and vowed to aggressively address the alarming level of unemployment in the zone, if elected as senator representing Orlu zone. He also hinted on how he is going to dignify the once revered traditional institution, which has been bastardized by the present government, all for political gains.
Continuing, the vibrant and dogged fighter vowed to ensure that all those forced down to the villages, including families of those sent to their early graves by the present government of Owelle Rochas Okorocha, during his false but self-acclaimed urban renewal, which he said was targeted at impoverishing the people, are adequately compensated and rehabilitated.
