Imo State outgoing governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha is steadily increasing the woes of Imolites, as a royal father, Eze Ohiri has consequently chased out dancers of Imo Arts and Culture that previously occupied part of the building of Imo traditional rulers council of Ndi Ezes.
The Imo State dancers referred to as the “Omenimo dancers”, were thrown out of jobs, over the weekend when His Royal Majesty Eze Samuel Ohiri forced the government dancers out of the premises on flimsy reasons that the outgoing governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha, had ordered that they vacate the place.
What baffled most observers was that the governor who is suspected to be in love with culture could descend to the level of abandoning Imo traditional culture, and dancing troupe, simply because, a select group of political leaders are against his senatorial ambition.
The action of the Eze has left one of the Imo dancers hospitalized, as a result of injuries sustained in the drama, when they were forcefully ejected from the place.
An eye witness report said, one of the dancers is still in coma, and critically ill at St. David’s Specialist Hospital Owerri, where doctors are battling to save her life from bleeding, injuries sustained in her spinal cord with some other body harms.
Meanwhile the traditional ruler, Samuel Ohiri has vowed to frustrate any attempt by the government to bring them back to the apartments. He boasted that he can tolerate anything from the government, but not the dancers, again.
It was alleged that Eze Imo, Samuel Ohiri has also hijacked every proposal that comes to his table as he has started grooming his own dancers to replace the Omenimo dancing group as he was seen last week offloading some musical equipment, to be used by his private dancers.
When contacted, the media aide to Eze Ohiri, Mr. Gift Nwokolo, described the report as baseless, stating that the said staff of Art and culture still occupy their office. He also debunked the report that some of the staff were manhandled.
