Gerthill Allied Health School in collaboration with Gerthill Community Outreach Organization Inc, had what turned out to be a Christmas celebration with the physically challenged and less privillaged at the Orlu Special school in Orlu local government area of Imo state,Nigeria on Thursday 24th December, 2018.
The ceremony which started with prayer and a remark by Mrs Iwuoha Justina, the Principal of the Special Education Centre, Orlu, was well attended by the students and their teachers.
In her remarks, Mrs Justina Iwuoha thanked Chief (Mrs) Ihuoma Ihenachor, the initiator of the programme for visiting the less privileged and providing them sucour. She commended her for not spending her resources on irrelevant things but putting smiles on the faces of their students.
Speaking on what motivated her to embark on charity,the founder of the NGO, Chief (Mrs) Ihenachor,a crowned chief in Orlu,fondly called Obatauloadimma of orlu who is a certified nurse, said that the Foundation concentrates on children, especially the disadvantaged ones, the physically challenged, abandoned and the less privileged or vulnerable group, because, “we care about their health, environment and the food given to the children and are willing to improve on it, for their effective growth and development”.
While addressing journalists at the occasion, Ihenachor, said that, her motivation comes from her family especially her late father, Hon. (Chief) Francis Oguike, who was the Proprietor of Ojike Memorial Secondary School, who until his death, was a philanthropist. She described her late father as a man with heart of gold, who taught her to give and be of help to less privileged and the needy. She further revealed how she finds satisfaction in sharing things with people. She also said that, she is not doing good to receive award or for any political position but because of genuine love she and her husband have for people, especially the less privileged.

Hon. Mrs Consicial Emanalo, who spoke on behalf of “good women politicians”, that work with Hon. Chief Edwin Ihenachor, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Orlu, Orsu and Oru East federal constituency, encouraged the less privileged to be hopeful and happy with their candidate. She told them that there is ability in disability, and assured that with Chief Edwin Iheanachor’s desired victory, their lot will be immensely improved.
Finally, she expressed gratitude to Dr (Mrs) Getrude Ihenacho, who has been giving to the less privileged not because of her wealth, but because of her heart. She also assured the people of Chief Edwin Ihenachor’s willingness to sustain the project, if elected, as member of the lower chamber of the National Assembly.
The high point of the occasion, was the distribution of gifts which include; drugs, food items and drinks by Dr (Mrs) Ihenachor.
