To encourage the emergence of more viable aspirants in the forthcoming 2019 general elections, the United Progressive Party (UPP) has thrown its doors open to all qualified Nigerians.
Announcing this in Owerri, the Imo State capital, the State Chairman of UPP, Mr. Innocent Njoku, stated that the party National Working Committee has extended the duration for the collection and return of nomination form for all the elective posts, urging all credible aspirants being hindered by the outrageous nomination fees demanded by some political parties to come over to UPP and utilize the opportunity.
According to him, UPP is out to stop the exploitation of aspirants by some parties, and reduce the circumstance that could make those in power to loot the common wealth in order to recoup their electoral express.
The UPP boss also lamented the on-going maladministration in Imo State which has led to the denigration of the giant strides attained by the state under the past administrations especially that of former Governor Sam Mbakwe.
Embittered by the continued poor performance of the state government, he vowed that UPP would ensure that power-drunk and half-baked individuals were not allowed to be in power in the state again.
Mr. Njoku reiterated that UPP is poised to erase the sufferings and hardship Imolites have gone through under the All Progressives Congress (APC) led state government, pointing out that Imo children would blame their parents for being docile while the state was being milked dry by a self serving political leader.
