The ongoing massive rural urban renewal exercise in the 27 local government areas of Imo State, mostly the Isiala Mbano and Ngor-Okpalla council areas, have attracted a lot of commendations to the governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, who, inspite of the lingering economic down turn has continued to embark on massive road construction as Ngor-Okpala and Isiala Mbano LGA have benefited from such laudable gestures.
In their separate commendation speeches, the Transition Committee Chairman of Isiala-Mbano, Hon. Julius Onyeneho described Governor Okorocha as a man sent by God to put smiles on the faces of Imolites through his life changing and enriching programmes. While the T.C. chairman of Ngor-Okpala LGA, Hon. Chidi Ekeh in his own speech, said the governor has done well. According to him, the funds for the road construction works for his council has been released and put into proper use as directed, by awarding the contracts to tested and trusted contractors.
On the issue of some Ngor-Okpala leaders having a misunderstanding over the disbursement of the fund, Hon. Eke said this is complete falsehood adding that the commissioner, Bless Nwamerenini and himself are together in ensuring that Ngor-Okpala benefited from the governor’s genuine Rural-urban renewal programme.
At Isiala Mbano, Hon. Onyeneho, said some leaders wanted to be funny with the fund released for the road project, but he never allowed such to happen, by not releasing fund to any individual, but ensured that such money went only to the contractors.
According to him, the official report made to the governor by some leaders has helped him a lot in exposing such a hidden agenda. He maintained that time has gone when money given to develop places, was siphoned by the leaders. Hon. Onyeneho said they are grateful to Governor Okorocha and would do everything humanly possible to make it succeed in all his endeavours, programme sans policies.
On road construction projects, Hon. Onyenecho said about five roads are captured by the leaders and work has since started on all of them. He expressed confidence that the contractors would deliver as at when due.
