Every Child Education and Advancement Foundation (ECEAF), a Non Governmental Organization (NGO), met in their office, along Okigwe road, Owerri, over the weekend, where they took a critical look at the attempt by the Rector of Imo State Polytechnic, Umuagwo, Rev. Fr (Dr.) Wence Madu to perpetuate himself in office, contrary to the guidelines that established the school and resolved to drag the management and governing council of the institution to court for such flagrant abuse.
The Director of Programmes of the foundation, Dr. Unachukwu Nwankwo, while addressing journalists, immediately after the meeting, condemned the various actions of the dramatis personae, which he described as deliberate and calculated attempt to destabilize academic programs in the institution, stressing that what is more annoying is that the said Rector is a reverend father who should know the implication of his actions. “It is disheartening that while the politicians are often disparaged for scheming to stay beyond their tenures, a reverend father is also shamefully enmeshed in such negative controversy that stigmatizes and projects the Catholic church and entire Christendom in bad light”.
He averred that the Board of Directors have met and resolved to drag the management and governing council of the polytechnic, headed by Chief Emeka Offor to court, to seek interpretation of the law establishing it.
He also condemned a situation, “where those who should preserve the educational sector for the benefit of our children are those destroying it because of their selfish interests. We will take every necessary legal step and leave no stone unturned, in exposing their evil machinations”.
He said that their legal team has been briefed and put on the alert, any moment from now, the legal battle will commence.
