– Renames Lamonde Hotel
Governor Rochas Okorocha appears to have recently embarked on massive and simultaneous rehabilitation of all his properties in Owerri and beyond.
According to a source, who confided in this reporter, the renovation and expansion of Lamonde hotel, along Akwakuma Road in Owerri North LGA of Imo State, which has now been renamed Willow Wood Hotel is now almost completed as it now has a swimming pool, about 20 rooms and several halls. It is reported that one of the governor’s daughters who appears to be supervising virtually all the renovation projects was sighted there yesterday.
The source, further availed that the Lamonde hotel located along Okigwe road in Owerri Municipal Council is also presently being renovated and expanded. According to him, “the governor may still wake up tomorrow and tell Imo people that the hotels and virtually all his properties that are presently being renovated at the same time are owned by Rochas foundation of Africa as was the case of the Spibat estate, also in Amakohia Uratta, which has been a subject of controversy.
People are wondering where and how the funds for these extensive renovations are being sourced and why they should take precedence over the interest and welfare of Imo civil servants who are owed arrears of salary and were not paid any before the Christmas and new year celebrations, talkless of pensioners who have been carrying about bounced cheques since the October last year.
