As 2019 election year draws closer, different organizations are busy opening offices within Imo state and convening political meetings for their principals. Landlords and property owners are having their best times with the windfalls.
It was gathered that the controversial Imo micro finance bank which was recently used to divert part of the N26.8 billion Imo bailout fund, as alleged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC) is now the building housing the “show us the man group and go to sleep” empowered by Dr. Henry Okafor.
A visit by this reporter to Okigwe road Owerri where the building is located, reveals that the one storey building has been renovated and furnished with a sign post that has the inscription “show us the man and go to sleep”.
The group is said to be under the leadership of Dr. Henry Okafor who has been having a running battle with the Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations) and Chairman Bureau of Lands and Housing, Kingsley Uju over who picks the APC ticket for the House of Representative seat in Oguta, Oru West, Ohaji/Egbema federal constituency.
It will be recalled that, in recent times Dr. Okafor, a former chieftain of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) had flooded the capital city with bill boards almost compelling Owelle Rochas Okorocha to publicly announce his choice candidate as successor and leave the rest of the jobs for him.
Political pundits have long described the group as anti-democratic as their slogan and what they represent run contrary to the real tenets and definition of democracy which is, “government of the people, by the people and for the people”.
