The Honourable Member representing Isu constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly Chief (Mrs.) Ngozi Obiefule organized her spelling B Quiz and Sports competition on Thursday 14th and Saturday, 16 December 2017 respectively for primary school pupils in Isu local government area. The competitions were followed by her birthday ceremony which was held that Saturday.
The quiz competition was held at the Isu local government headquarters with pupil from all primary schools in Isu in full participation. At the end of the quiz Uzoegbu Jeff from Central School Umundugba emerged the winner and was rewarded with a cash prize of fifty thousand naira. Uzochukwu Goodness also from central school Umundugba received a cash price of thirty thousand naira while Ihechi Abosi, from Community School Ekwe was given twenty thousand naira for taking the third position.
Similarly, the soccer competition in the football field of central school, Umundugba, was very interesting, with the young footballers making efforts to score against their opponents. The winners of the football competition were inland Primary School Amandugba who took the gold cup and the sum of fifty thousand naira, Town School Umundugba received the silver cup with thirty thousand naira and Central School 2 Ekwe went home with the Bronze cup and twenty thousand naira.
Pupils from Umundugba Primary School rendered birthday songs and danced for Chief Ngozi Obiefule, praying God to add more years to her life. After the pupils renditions, she cut her birthday cake with her husband Air Commodore Ndubuisi Obiefule (Rtd), the teachers and pupils.
The occasion was chaired by Chief Asika, the zonal chairman of All Progressives Congress. In his speech, he thanked Hon. Ngozi Obiefule for her contributions to the growth of the pupils. He said she is the only legislator and politician who has organized such competitions in Isu constituency if not in the whole of Imo state, maintaining that other politicians do similar things only during electioneering campaigns. He commended the pupils and teachers for wonderful performance. In his words “with these children’s abilities and prowess, they will represent Nigeria in future.”
The Deputy Speaker, Imo House of Assembly, Hon. Ugonna Ozuruigbo praised Hon. Ngozi Obiefule for her sacrifices. He described her as an excellent representative, who is known to everybody in the constituency including the children.
The chairman of Imo State Universal Basic Education Board (IMSUBEB) Hon. Ethelbert Ibeabuchi appreciated Chief Obiefule for her credible performances which he said started even before she became a legislator.
The sponsor of the contests Chief (Mrs.) Ngozi Obiefule, while addressing journalists, said the essence of the competitions is to ensure the growth and development of the pupils’ intellect, skill and talents and also to create a competitive spirit in them. “It is also aimed at enhancing their mastery of spoken and written English language”. She advised the students who lost in the competitions to be hopeful and determined to win in the next edition. She stressed her desire to make Isu a well known and enterprising constituency that will be addressed as a great local government area.

N. Education Secretary Isu, Headmasters, teachers and pupils, from Isu LGA and host of others.
