There are speculations that while governor Okorocha and his wife are making frantic efforts to ensure that their son-inlaw and Chief of Staff, government house, Chief Uche Nwosu succeeds the governor, Okorocha’s siblings are fronting and working assiduously for Chuks Ololo, who is married to their youngest sister, Ogechi to be governor come, 2019.
According to a close source, “Uche Nwosu’s political structure does not revolve around the family, raising fears that, if he eventually emerges, there may not be room for them to be relevant and continue business as usual. Besides, they see him as a small boy, who will only be answerable to the governor’s wife, while they will be abandoned. This is why they are scheming and working for Chuks Ololo who is said to be more on the same page with them”.
Ololo, himself, is also said to have started mobilizing APC leaders and stalwarts to orchestrate, and keep the issue of zoning on the front burner of public discourse because, he believes it will sway the governor and give him advantage. He is also, said to be using his wife, who is the governor’s younger sister and presently, commissioner for happiness and fulfillment, to reach out to other influential members of the cabinet, to lobby the governor to support him, and possibly use Nwosu or Chike Okafor as his deputy.
It will be recalled that Governor Okorocha, was quoted as saying, in a recent church event, that his choice of successor will shock and throw Imolites off balance. So far, Ololo and Nwosu, are believed to be the only people to have gotten the governor’s blessing and now waiting for the final decision.
There are also speculations that governor Okorocha, despite the rapour between them, does not seem to be pleasantly disposed to the Madumere, factor, whom he believes, may not be loyal because there is no family bond.
In the midst of these speculations, a cross section of Imolites who spoke to this reporter, said they will do everything they can to stop the emergence of the duo, “he is only looking for a stooge that will shield him from his alleged numerous misdeeds.
