Last Saturday November 12, 2017, at Abuja, the Vice Chancellor of Imo State University (IMSU) Owerri, Prof. Adaobi Obasi, literarily pulled the who is who in both the government of Imo state and the university community to witness the solemnization ceremony of her daughter, Dr. Ugonna Obasi, now betrothed to Mr. Ndubuisi Ukpabi.
The wedding ceremony which took place at the St Mathew’s Anglican Church, along Shehu Shagari Way Maitaima, Abuja was a carnival of sorts with a mammoth crowd of, friends and well wishers.
Many women of substance and intellectual Amazon added colour, pomp and pageantry to the church event with their colourful and adorable costumes, decorating every space in, white and green and yellow before the entire guests moved in a train like convoy to “A Class Park and Event Centre” also located in the highbrow area of Maitaima Abuja, for the memorable wedding reception.
Remarkably, the Pro Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Imo State University, (IMSU) Owerri, Dr. Alex Mbata was the Chairman of the wedding reception which had other dignitaries and distinguished personalities such as Dr. Paschal Obi , the Principal Secretary to Governor Rochas Okorocha and his spouse as the Chief sponsors and other very important personalities who include Prof. B.C.O Ikegwuoha, Prof. C.B Nwachukwu , Prof. Ukaga, Kingsley Mbamara, Prof. JBN Nnadozie, former Dean School of Health Sciences, IMSU Dr. Emma Esemonu, Dr Nwosu.
Others include some of the Imo state commissioner nominees who were in attendance. They include Mrs. Getrude Oduka, and ex-commissioner for Health, Barr. Ngozi Njoku.
Among Imo lawmakers who graced the occasion were the Deputy speaker of Imo House of Assembly, Ugonna Ozuruigbo, Hon. Amb. (Mrs.) Uju Onwudiwe, and Hon. Orie Emmanuel of Ohaji Egbema State Constituency. Others who were not left out are Prof. Nkwam Uwaoma DVC designate, Prof G.G Agulana, and IMSU Registrar, Emeka Ejinkeonye, Chief Njoku, University PRO, Prof Ezeanyika, to mention but a few.
The wedding reception like the church outing recorded very impressive turn out by friends, relatives and well wishers from far and near so much that an excited Prof. Adaobi Obasi could not hide her joy while expressing thanks to God Almighty for a very clement weather and to her guests for finding time to come.
The groom, Mr. Ndubuisi Ukpabi in his vote of thanks on behalf of the wife and family expressed happiness for a successful wedding ceremony and thanked all those who found time out of their various engagements, to witness the unique occasion.
